Charity Dog Walk – The Leather Bottle Pub in Mattingley, RG27 8JU

Hi Everyone!

We are doing a charity dog walk for Debbie, a lovely lady of the Hook community, whom has been running a dog boarding and walking business ‘Happy Hounds of Hook’ for many years. Debbie has sadly been diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer and is trying to raise awareness and money to help prolong her life. Debbie’s story can be found below:

👉 togetherfordebbie.org.uk/debbie

On Saturday 3rd August from 9 a.m. we’ll be meeting at The Leather Bottle Pub in Mattingley, RG27 8JU for complimentary pastries, coffee and tea. Debbie’s friends will be selling raffle tickets and other doggy delights on the morning of the event and there will be buckets available for your kind donations. We will be looking to head off on a 3-mile circular walk at 10 a.m. The walk takes about 1.5 hours and if you wish to book a table for lunch, you can via the Leather Bottle website!

Everyone is welcome to come and show their support for what we believe to be a wonderful cause, however if you can’t make it, please feel free to donate!

Debbie’s Story

Firstly …….Thank you for joining our page! #togetherfordebbie Debbie is a 50-year-old mother of two, who is not just a beacon of hope to her children Lorenzo and Lilia, but is also a soul mate to her lifelong partner Barry and a devoted friend to many in the local community in Hook, Hampshire. In fact, as founder of ‘Happy Hounds of Hook’ even our furry friends all know and love Auntie Debbie! No one who has met Debbie could fail to be touched by her laughter, her generous spirit and her sheer love of life! But in March 2024, Debbie and her family received a devasting diagnosis of stage 4 bowel cancer, and the news that Debbie’s cancer has spread to her liver and uterus. The NHS team at Basingstoke Hospital have been fantastic, but the standard chemotherapy they offer provides limited hope. NHS surgery is not possible at this point and the urgency to explore more advanced, private healthcare solutions has become evident. Debbie’s family have found a leading Professor at the Imperial College and Cleveland Clinic in London who has an international reputation for the treatment of bowel cancers that require advanced therapies. He may be able to offer Debbie cutting-edge treatment that could cure or significantly extend Debbie’s life, providing her with precious time to watch her children grow and to continue being the cornerstone of their lives. While we await the next step of Debbie’s treatment and how we move forward we hope you will follow her story and help us in our quest to get Debbie the treatment she so urgently needs. We will keep you updated. In the meantime please share her story and help us spread awareness on bowel cancer. #bowelcancerawareness #bowelcanceruk #hampshire #togetherfordebbie
